Types of Acne

Before we jump into the home remedies, let us look at the most common types of acne and what causes them

•Papules

Pink bumps on your skin that may appear to be tender are known as papules. This type of acne is formed when a hair follicle is clogged and becomes inflamed. Papules do not contain pus inside them.

•Nodules

When bacteria are caught up in a hair follicle, nodules are formed. Since this type of acne is formulated below the surface area, it hardens and becomes quite painful. The deeper the nodules are, the more damage they will do to the tissue.

•Cysts

Cysts too are formed when bacteria are trapped in a hair follicle. These are quite large in size as well as painful. Cysts penetrate deep into the skin and can also cause permanent scars.

•Blackheads

Blackheads are formed when a plugged follicle that is situated on the surface of your skin is opened. They are the result of a reaction between sebum and air.

•Whiteheads

When a plugged follicle remains closed under the skin, whiteheads have formed that look like a white bump

Some causes of Acne

• Secretion of sebaceous

Our back and shoulders have sebaceous glands that secret oily substance sebum. This element basically keeps the skin hydrated and also protects it. However, excess production of sebum can cause it to clog with dead skin cells present around the hair follicle. Apart from sebum production in excess, genetics and puberty also play a great role in causing shoulder acne.

• Acne Mechanica

Wearing tight clothes for a prolonged period or carrying backpacks and handbags can cause acne on the shoulders. If heat is caught against the body for a long time then the sweat blocks the hair follicle leading to the formation of acne. This especially happens in hot conditions when you wear fitted clothes all day long that does not allow the skin to breathe.

• Keratosis Pilaris

When the dead skin cells stick together, they block the hair follicles. This leads to the widening of pores and causing multiple small bumps on the surface of your back. Moreover, acne on the back can also exist because of hereditary issues. You may be allergic to certain fabric softeners or body lotions that are causing acne.
